The current 17th Karmapa, Thaye Dorje (born 1983) was Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche, recognized as authentic incarnation. Shamar Rinpoche is the second highest teacher of the Karma Kagyu lineage and for the retrieval Karmapa responsible.
